Mrs. Helen Irene Green, age 91 of Point of Rocks, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick. She was the wife of the late James Edward Green, her husband of 64 years who passed away in 2006. Born on May 20, 1923 in Loudoun County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Luther and Alice Salona Elizabeth Shores Green. Mrs. Green was a 1941 graduate of Leesburg High School. She was employed by the United States Postal Services working at the Point of Rocks office as an assistant Post Mistress. She continued employment at Todd Steel in Point of Rocks as a custodian. She enjoyed playing bingo and following the New York Yankees. She loved her family and was a great cook. Mrs. Green is survived by her son F. Edward Green and wife Sharon of Rosemont; grandsons, M. Scott Green of Jefferson and R. Kirk Green and wife Terri of Middletown; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Emerald and Courtney Green; a special great niece, Chawnna Koontz (Allan); niece Darlene Sites (Ronnie); nephews, J.P. (Debbie) and Dennis Athey (Barbara); great-nephews, Scott Stockman (Terry) Tyler Athey; great-nieces, Allison, Haley and Aubrey Athey; and great-great nephews Stephen Koontz and Luke Stockman and a great-great niece Mikayla Stockman. She will also be remembered by many friends, including Jerry French and Charles "Skip" Barnhouse. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11 AM. Pastor Eddie Hartman will officiate. The interment will follow in the St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery in Point of Rocks.
