Mrs. Jeannette Rudy Shafer Brust, 76, formerly of Middletown, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Health Care Center of Buckingham's Choice in Adamstown. Twice married she was the wife of the late Herman B. Brust, Jr., who died August 22, 2010 and the late F. D. "Dave" Shafer II, who died January 24, 1976. Born in Frederick on May 16, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Richard B. and Helen Harshman Rudy. Jeannette was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1956. She enjoyed traveling, and was a volunteer with meals on wheels. She was a pilot and had flown private planes. She had been a nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital and for many years was active as a real estate agent in the Frederick area. She had owned the Frederick Office Center. Jeannette at one time was a very active member of the Brook Hill United Methodist, she sang with the church choir and was also active with the One God One Voice Choir. Surviving are her children; Donna E. Shafer of Hanover, PA, Philip D. Shafer of Jefferson, and Ellen R. Baker, of Frederick, three brothers, Kenneth W. Rudy and Carol, of Frederick, Richard A, Rudy and Janet, of Middletown and Gary C. Rudy and Hope, of Burkittsville, seven grandchildren, Ashley Hughes and Brandon, Tiffany Shafer, Stephani Patterson, Andrew Shafer, Curtis Baker, Lucas Shafer and Zachary Shafer, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be remembered by a long time friend, Marlee Fox Williams, of Frederick. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Elizabeth Rudy. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, October 27, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be; Andrew Shafer, Curtis Baker, Lucas Shafer, Kyle Clem, Kameron Clem and Brandon Hughes.
