Mrs. Lauretta Keller Smith, 87, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Mertius Medical Center in Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Evard "Jack" Smith. Born in Frederick on April 24, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Havery and Halga Neal Keller. She had retired from Farm Credit where she was an administrative assistant. She was an active member of the Buckeystown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed spending time with her girl friends. Surviving are her children, Steven K. Smith and wife Ruth, of Frederick, Karen S, Bare and husband Douglas, of Midlothian, VA and David C. Smith and wife Debbie, of Frederick, two brothers, Charles Keller and wife Jane and Jerry Keller, all of Frederick, two sisters, Patsy Nicholson and husband Nick, of Monterey, CA and Gloria Rice and husband Russell, of Frederick, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Thomas "Pete" and Henry Keller. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 8, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Cindy M. Caldwell, pastor of Buckeystown United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
