Sarah Mehring Burgoyne

Sarah Mehring Burgoyne, known to her friends as Sally, was 80, when she passed away on November 5, 2014 at her residence at Homewood Crumland Farms, Frederick. She survived her husband, Andrew A. Burgoyne and second husband, Herrick P. Fannon. Born on September 27, 1934, in Fanwood, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Rhoda Cloud Mehring. Sally was a stay at home mother, raising her three daughters, before beginning a very successful career as an Executive Buyer. She first worked for Bechtel in Gaithersburg and then was sought after to start with Florida Power and Light. Sally helped to start the Help program in Montgomery County, distributing food to needy families. She also was an active Girl Scouts Leader. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, going on walks and traveling. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Burgoyne and husband Don, Sandra Walls and husband Barry, and Becky Tims and husband Mike; two step-daughters, Anne Penn and Susan Fannon; seven grandchildren, Andrew and Erika Burgoyne-Hongell, Nicholas and Jeremy Farkas, Justin and John Tims, and Samantha Penn; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, James Mehring, David Cloud Mehring and Mary Wichie. A celebration of life will be held in the summer at the beach.
