Mr. Ignatius "Nick" Gabriel, 75, of Frederick, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia Elaine (Player) Gabriel for 52 years. Born July 29, 1939, in Bakonyjako, Hungary, he was the son of the late Ignatius and Elizabeth (Krautheim) Gabriel. Nick immigrated to the United States in January 1947 and resided in Patterson, NJ. He served in the US Army from 1961 until 1967. He retired from the Montgomery County Govt. after over 20 years of service. For the last 14 years, Nick worked for the Music & Arts Center in Frederick. Since 1962, he was a life member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degree). In addition to his wife, Nick is survived by his children, Michael Ignatius Gabriel, Monica Ingrid Gabriel and Colleen Marie Gabriel Nestor and husband Matthew, grandchildren, Derek Gabriel Nestor, Dominic Staley Nestor and Corinne Elizabeth Nestor, sister, Catherine Molnar and husband Emil of Conway, SC, brother-in-law, Richard Player and wife Carroll of Lexington, SC, special cousin, John Hack and wife Marie of Berkeley Heights, NJ, special friends, Linda Lugar and Elizabeth Panik, and best friend, Penny. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm, on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Rd., Middletown, MD 21769. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Community at the above address. Father Keith W. Boisvert will officiate. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Katherine Drexel Parish building fund, 8428 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
