Lareaux Whitmore Crampton

Mrs. Lareaux Grace Whitmore Crampton, peacefully passed away Friday, November 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John C. "Jack" Crampton, whom she married in 1948. Born on February 27, 1929 in Walkersville, she was the daughter of the late Alton C. Whitmore, Sr. and L. Mae Whitmore. She was a Frederick County resident her entire life, living at several residences and finally at Somerford Place for the last 6 years. She graduated with the FHS Class of 1947 and also attended Towson College. She worked for a brief time at the Clerk of the Circuit Court, before starting her family. In 1967, she began a 30 year career with the Pediatric Center of Frederick as a medical receptionist. Her deep love for children was always evident to her family, pediatric patients, and any child she would encounter along her path. She was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a past member of the Elks Lodge #684. She is survived by four children, Jeffrey Crampton (Regina), Alesa Seymour (Donald), John Eric Crampton, and Lori Cromwell (Steven), all of Frederick; seven grandchildren, Robert Seymour (Diana), Ryan Seymour, Amanda Crampton, Natalie Connell, Nicole Crampton, Kurtis Cromwell, Sean Cromwell; six great-grandchildren, Tanner, Myiah, and Jackson Seymour, Camden and Kilee Crampton, and Cooper Connell; and several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Alton Whitmore, III of New York. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a brother Alton Whitmore, Jr., an infant sister, mother and father in law Claude and Dora Crone Crampton. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the loving care she received at Somerford with Alzheimer's Care, FMH, and Hospice of Frederick Co. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday, December 2 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 3. Private interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
