Dorothy Mary "Dottie" (Dunn) Burke, 69, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on December 1, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of the late Russell Eugene Burke. Born on July 18, 1945 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Richard Henry and Dorothy Taccino Dunn. Dottie worked for more than 20 years as the bookkeeper at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick. She was a member of the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary and had been a volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She loved to play bingo with her friends. She is survived by her son, Edward Burke and wife Shannon of Thurmont; step-son, Michael Nelson and family of Puerto Rico; two brothers, Richard Dunn and wife Beverly of Frostburg, and Donald Dunn and wife Linda of Cumberland; one sister, Diana Folk and husband Russell Pugh of Mt. Savage; two grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna Burke of Thurmont; several nieces and nephews, very close friends and her K9 companion Buddy. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
