Regina "Jean" Carey, 77, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at her home. She was the wife of the late Ralph F. Carey. Born in Doubs on August 27, 1937, she was a daughter of the late George Albert and Mary June Shipley Bassford She had worked as a receptionist for Peoples Life Insurance and Prudential. She had also worked at Costco. Jean was an avid bingo player and loved to visit Charles Town. Surviving are her children, Allen Carey, of Knoxville, Vince Carey and Daphne Maught and husband Charlie, all of Jefferson, two grandchildren, Matt and Danielle Maught, one sister, Sandra Thomas and husband Maynard, of Braddock Heights, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Randall E. "Randy" Carey, grandson, Andy Maught and sister, Eve "Sissy" Burrier. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Keeney and Bassford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, December 6, 2014, from the funeral home. The Rev. Marina C. Flores, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
