Miss. Amy Cherlyn Dusza, 40, of Monrovia, died Friday, December 5, 2014. Born July 23, 1974, in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of Robert W. and Nancy L. (Himes) Dusza. Amy graduated from Linganore High School, UMBC (BS) and Hood College (MA ED in Special Education). She went on to teach in Washington County and Baltimore City. Amy was a survivor who never gave up while enduring 15 major surgeries, the residual results of 3 brain surgeries. Her sense of humor never failed her in any situation. She was writing her autobiography to help others with lifelong medical issues see the beauty and humor in life. She was a giving person who always thought of others. As a Leo, she had a fiesty side to her, which helped her survive her daily trials. In addition to her parents, Amy is survived by her brother, Bryan Dusza and wife Laura, nieces and nephews, Henry Dusza, Erin Dusza, Antonia Dusza and Kiley Dusza (the joys of her life). The true love of her life was her Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Hooper. She was preceded in death, by her brother, Anthony Dusza, maternal grandparents, Julian and Margaret Himes and paternal grandparents, Louis and Leona Dusza. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM, on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 9201A Church Street, Libertytown, Maryland 21791. Msgr. John Dietzenbach will officiate. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Sociey at www.lls.org or Childhood Cancer Society at www.childhoodcancersociety.org in honor of Amy Dusza.
