Mary E. Mercer of Frederick, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 30, 2015. She was the wife of 49 years to the late Homer H. Mercer. Born on June 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frederick N. and Ida (Carbaugh) Ramsburg. Mary was employed for 19 years, at the Village Restaurant in Frederick. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting the Senior Citizen Center of Frederick. Mary is survived by one sister, Eva Kinsey of Frederick and one sister in law, Miriam Himes and husband Pete. She is also survived by two sons, David and wife Carolyn of Woodbridge, VA and Ronald and wife Sue of Charlestown, VA. She is also survived by two daughter, Pamela Marshall and husband Ronald of Frederick, and Melody Slick and husband Lester Jr. of Gaithersburg; seven grandchildren, Phillip Mercer, Timothy Mercer and wife Michelle, Tyanna Draper and husband Mark, Carrie Minnick, Lester Slick III and Brittney Mercer; step-grandson, Darrell Minnick and wife Sarah; great-grandson, Robert Draper and step-great-grandchildren. Avery Thompson, Hannah and Luke Minnick. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Charles Frederick Mercer; daughter, Susan Lynn Minnick and grandson, Ronald (Butch) Marshall. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday at the funeral home. The Reverend Dr. Robert Apgar-Taylor of Grace United Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
