Elinor "Onnie" Johnson Grant

Mrs. Elinor "Onnie" Johnson Grant, 97, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015 at Buckingham's Choice Retirement Community in Adamstown, MD. Born in Gibbon, MN, on April 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Alice Johnson. Onnie graduated from Gibbon High School in 1934 and the University of Minnesota in 1938. She was the former wife of Lee J. Grant of Mott, ND, where they raised their family. Onnie moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1973, where she had a special affinity for Pike's Peak, The Garden of the Gods and Patty Jewett Golf Course. She loved the lakes of Minnesota, the plains of North Dakota and the mountains of Colorado. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, golfer and bridge player, while enjoying travel and geology. Onnie moved to Buckingham's Choice in Adamstown, MD in 2007. Onnie is survived by her children, Jack Grant and wife Mary of Yarmouth Port, MA, Steve Grant and wife Sharron of Seneca, SC, Dick Grant and wife Phyllis of Prosperity, SC and Barbara Wolfe and husband Byron of Darnestown, MD; grandchildren, Keen Grant, Lee Grant, Mark Grant, Mike Grant, Danny Grant, Will Grant, Brandon Wolfe and Bethany Wolfe, along with ten great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews, Tom Jewell, Bitta Barnard, Mari Jewell and Billy Jewell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Merle Johnson and Babe Jewell. A celebration of her life will be held in Colorado at a later date.
