Mrs. Rebecca Flora Shaulis, age 91 of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Todd Fike Shaulis who passed away in 2007. Born on June 28, 1923 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Emanuel and Lucretia Florine Bowles Higgs. Mrs. Shaulis was a lifelong Catholic, attending mass regularly at Country Meadows in Frederick. She worked at both Montgomery College and Sandy Spring Bank both as a cashier. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, bowling, ping pong, traveling, camping, crabbing and collecting antiques especially glassware Mrs. Shaulis is survived by her three daughters: Linda Thayer and husband Ted of Saddle River, NJ, Gloria Jones and husband Ron of Artemas, PA, and Donna Elliott and husband Keith of Charles Town, WV, six grandchildren: Thomas Thayer, Scott Jones, Chris Jones, Wayne Jones, Michael Jones, and Rebecca Mallory, four great grandchildren: Cory Jones, Carter Jones, Davian Jones, and Sara Jones, and one great great grandchild Gatlyn Jones. She is preceded in death by her siblings Elsie Woodburn, Theresa Ford, Helena Armstrong, Frances Wiltrout, Bernice Ferguson, Eva Abel, Thomas Higgs, and Charlotte Metzger. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701 from 9:30 - 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 am. The interment will follow at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD.
