Mary Jane Titlow Seidel

July 17, 1930 — March 25, 2015

Mrs. Mary Jane (Titlow) Seidel, 84, of Frederick, Maryland, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Northampton Manor Home in Frederick. She was the wife of the late Barry L. Seidel who preceded her in death in 2007. Barry was the love of her life for over 53 years. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late K. Raymond and Mary C. Titlow. Mary Jane graduated from Muhlenberg High School (Reading, PA), attended Syracuse University and graduated from Albright College with a degree in mathematics and a minor in German. She was a homemaker and subsequently retired after 30 years of part-time employment from Turkey Hill Minute Market (Akron, PA), where she enjoyed knowing most of the townspeople. Mary Jane was a Pennsylvania State certified Emergency Medical Technician and served with the Ephrata Ambulance for almost 10 years. She delivered a baby on one of her calls. Mary Jane was a member of the Akron Women's Civic Club for over 30 years, serving as President for a portion of the time. She also wrote a column for the Ephrata Review (newspaper) and served on the Ephrata Public Library Board of Directors. She also did tutoring for special needs children in the Ephrata School District. Mary Jane was a voracious master of needlepoint, winning top Pennsylvania state awards for her work. In addition, she was an avid bowler for several decades in a weekly women's league at 222 Dutch Lanes in Akron, PA. Mary Jane is survived by her three sons, Geoffrey D. Seidel and wife Robin, Walkersville, MD; Peter S. Seidel and wife Patricia, Lawrenceville, GA; and Andrew R. Seidel and wife Suzanne, Ephrata, PA; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Interment will be at Laureldale Cemetery, Reading, PA at on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:30 AM. The family will receive friends at 12:30 PM at Grace Church at 62 Hahnstown Road in Ephrata, PA.
