Peggy Sue Keyser (Heatherly), 81, of Frederick, MD, passed away on April 15, 2015. She was the wife of the late Kenneth R. Keyser. Born Oct. 28, 1933 in Canton, NC, to the late Brownlow and Inez Heatherly. She married and moved to Frederick in 1951 and resided in Yellow Springs the rest of her life. She was a long time member of Brookhill United Methodist Church, she retired from SAIC as an animal caretaker after more than 30 years of service. Peggy was the ultimate mother and grandmother. Nothing gave her more pleasure than seeing her grandchildren and of course her own children. She cherished time spent with her family and her passion for preparing home-cooked meals carried beyond her family to her many friends and neighbors. She loved flowers and would not miss an opportunity to plant hundreds every year in her yard. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her girlfriends and spending time with her sister and brother in law. Peggy touched everyone's heart, whether it was someone she had just met or someone she had known for years. Peggy leaves behind her two daughters, Tammy S. Keyser and Sherrie L. Smith (Warren); a brother, Mickey Heatherly (Carol); a devoted sister Doris Schwaner (Marshall) and her grandchildren Paige Beckley and Tyler Beckley. In addition, she leaves behind some very special and close girlfriends Ester Hartsock, Patty Kline, Susie Flynt, Betty Martin and Shirley Harrison and her dear cousin Marie Deaver. She was predeceased by three siblings, Jeannie Smith, Don Heatherly, and Russell Heatherly. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the long-time physicians who whom kept her with us through the years of her illness. Dr. Ali Afrookteh, Dr. Edward Riuli and Dr. Branislav Romanic and the many kind and wonderful nurses and staff at FMH and who took care of her. The family will receive friend from 5-8pm on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Funeral home. Reverend Dana Werts will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Peggy loved flowers and in respect of her wishes, the family graciously accepts them.
