Mr. Thomas William Kendro, 71, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He was the caring husband for almost 44 years to Judith (Mulley) Kendro. Born on November 8, 1943 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Andrew and Josephine (Simonik) Kendro. Mr. Kendro graduated from North Union High School in 1961 and entered the National Guard serving from 1965-1969. Thomas relocated to Washington D.C. for his job with the Washington Gas Company, retiring in 1999. He also worked at Frederick Community College and Hyssong Appliance Center until his complete retirement in 2005. Thomas enjoyed coaching youth baseball for Clover Hill and Frederick National Little League for Hoke Insurance. He also coached with the Babe Ruth Kiwanis team and the Urbana High School Baseball team and enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles play. Thomas was an avid supporter of local high school sporting events throughout Frederick County public schools. At home, he enjoyed working in the yard, but his favorite time was spent playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was the devoted father of Kimberly Jean Schaffer and husband Floyd, of New Market, Kevin Thomas Kendro and wife Jennifer, of Frederick; he was the grandfather of Aubrey Jean Schaffer, Jacey Ann Schaffer and Kaiden Thomas Kendro; he is also survived by his siblings, Patty Marra of Uniontown, PA, Sonny Kendro of Uniontown, PA, Joe Kendro of Providence Forge, VA and Ann Kendro of Rockville, and his numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick and on Saturday, May 2nd from 2-3 pm with a funeral service beginning at 3pm. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
