Mrs. Sally Ann (Davis) Eckfield, 82, of Salisbury, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Lakeside Assisted Living, Salisbury. She was the wife of Charles Edgar Eckfield for 58years. Born April 22, 1933, in Stevens Point, WI, she was the daughter of the late Smith C. and Vivian B. (McDonald) Davis. Sally has known the Lord since she was a young child. As a graduate of the University of Michigan she began a long career of performing piano and teaching music. At the University of Delaware, she taught music theory and class piano. In Chestertown, MD, Sally taught Kindermusic to many young children, giving them a love for music. While she played the piano all her life,in her 60's she took up the tuba, french horn and euphonium. This allowed her to play in several community bands andeven play the tuba for a Christmas concert at the Kennedy Center. In her spare time, Sally was an avid gardener. In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by her son, James David Eckfield and wife Jo Ann, daughter, Kathleen Kaye (Eckfield) Mayo and husband Thomas, grandchildren, Emily Hurley and husband James, Stephanie Henderson and husband Greg, Steven Eckfield, James Wood Jr., Meredith Knox and husband Tony, Shannon Roenicke and husband Andrew and Michael Williams, 6 great-grandchildren, special nieces, Karen, Susan and Nancy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorsey Covey. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am, on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00AM. Rev. Loren Fetty will officiate. Interment will follow at Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.
