Mr. Charles Ray Darnell, 80, of Frederick, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley (Morgan) Darnell. Born July 13, 1934, in Columbia, TN, he was the son of the late Pansey Darnell. Mr. Darnell was a Sherman Tank driver during the Korean War era in Company B. He retired from DEH in Ft. Detrick after 20 years of service. In his his spare time, he loved fishing, visiting yard sales, bowling and spending time with his grandsons. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Roberts and husband Donald and Vickie Rohrer and husband Tom, grandchildren, Jonathan Schmidt and Brandon Fuson, great-granddaughters, Paige Schmidt and Morgan Schmidt, stepdaughters, Patricia Williams and husband Frank and Cathy Wachter, stepson, Wayne Stone and wife Mindy, numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. A walk down memory lane and celebration of life will be held from 4 to 8pm, on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Ft. Detrick Bowling Center, Sultan Drive Building #915, in Ft. Detrick (enter through the new Opposumtown Pike entrance). Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wound Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Online condolence may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com
