Lisa M. Shank, 54, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Altoona, PA passed away on June 28th, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. Lisa was born in Altoona, PA, the daughter of Richard P. Roccio and the late Barbara (Fink) Roccio. She married Michael J. Shank, also of Altoona, PA, on April 21, 1982. Surviving are her husband and her three sons: Richard M. Shank of Baltimore, MD, Daniel F. Shank of Frederick, MD, and Robert A Shank of Frederick, MD. Lisa attended St. Rose of Lima grade school and Bishop Guilfoyle High School where she met her husband. She received her Nursing Diploma from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1981. In 2012, she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Nursing from Maryland School of Nursing, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She worked for 15 years at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda MD, and for 18 years at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Over the course of her career, Lisa held positions in ICU, PACU, and most recently as a Clinical Documentation Specialist at FMH. At both hospitals, she earned many awards and recognitions. Besides being a devoted mother, daughter, wife, and RN, Lisa also had a love and passion for all animals. For the past ten years, she was an avid horse rider of her horse Indi, and her poodle, Phoebe, never left her side. In addition to her husband and children, Lisa is survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, many close friends with whom she worked over the years, and her riding companions. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East 2nd Street, Frederick, MD. A memorial mass will be offered immediately following visitation, at 11:30 AM, Father Michael Jendrek will be the celebrant.
