Gene Wayne Whipp

Gene W. Whipp, 76 of Frederick, Maryland, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. He was a resident of Northampton Manor Nursing Home. Born in Frederick on May 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Ora M. and Dallas H. Whipp of Sabillasville, MD. He was the husband of the late Bertha M. Whipp who died in 2006. Gene was a graduate of Thurmont High School Class of 1957. He worked for JM Bucheimer Leather Company for 33 years until it closed in 1990. He then worked at Action Products Inc. in Hagerstown for 10 years until he retired in Frederick. He loved to hunt and handgun shooting. He enjoyed crafts, making walking sticks, and things with driftwood. Surviving him is his daughter, Brenda Jackson and her partner Linda Lewis of Frederick; a step daughter, Janet Collins and husband Robert of Virginia Beach; three step sons, Bruce Wetzel of Knoxville, Allen Wetzel and wife Carolyn of Frederick; and Richard Wetzel and wife Sandy of Frederick. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and one special nephew Ronnie McKenzie of Hagerstown. He will be remembered by his special friends, Dallas and Linda Watts of Frederick and special caretaker Keisha Mosey. The family will receive family and friends from 5-8pm on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, July 13th. The Reverend Tim May will officiate. Burial will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Allen Wetzel, Dallas Watts, Mike Fain, David Wetzel, Bernie Wachter and Corey Wachter and honorary pallbearer Ronnie McKenzie. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
