Francis Rudell Fry

Francis Rudell Fry, 71, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was the husband of Carol Miller Fry. Born in Frederick, MD, on November 13, 1943, he was a son of the late G. Lester and M. Catherine Castle Fry. Francis fought a heroic battle since 2008 against multiple myeloma and lung cancer. He had a long career at Geico that spanned 50 years where he had started as a mail clerk. Francis retired in 2015 as a manager. He enjoyed betting on the horses, family gatherings and all sports events. Francis loved and was loved by many at work and in his personal life. He is survived by his step-children Michelle and Brian Miller; brother George Fry; nieces Anna Marie Linton, Mary Johnston and Sharon Spring; nephews C. William Etzler, Curtis, Robert Jr., Rodney, George, Carl Jr., James, John and Joel Fry; and numerous other family members. He was preceded by his; sister Anna Margaret Etzler; and three brothers Walter Fry, Carl Fry, Sr. and Robert C. Fry, A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15 at Keeney and Basford, P.A. Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. His nephew, Rev. Gorge H. Fry, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be shared at keeneybasford.com.
