Mrs. Margaretta "Peg" Carr, age 94 of Frederick, MD passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Encore at Turf Valley (ALF) in Ellicott City, MD under the care of Gilchrist Hospice. She was the wife of the late Richard "Dick" Carr who predeceased her in 2001. They were married for 60 years. Born on November 25, 1920 in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late Edna and Walter Yarnell. Mrs. Carr was a lifelong resident of Lancaster and moved to Maryland in 2003 to be closer to her family. Peg graduated from McCaskey High School and was a member of the School's first graduation class. After graduation she worked as an administrative assistant at Armstrong in the legal and advertising departments. She married Dick in 1941 and after the war became a full time homemaker and mother to her three sons. A devoted wife and mother her life revolved around her family. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran and Redeemer Lutheran churches. Her fondest memories involved family activities such as Cub Scouts, youth sports, family camping trips and boating on the bay. In later years she enjoyed crocheting and exercising particularly walking. Peg was a talented seamstress and a great cook. She is survived by her three sons, Patrick and wife Suzanne of West Friendship, Maryland, Michael Carr of Half Moon Bay, California, and Donald Carr of Ijamsville, Maryland. Peg had five grandchildren: David, Randall, Steven, James and Kristen, also two great grandsons Jared and Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her brother Lamar and her daughter in laws Phyllis and Diana. A private service will be held in Lancaster where she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Conestoga Memorial Park. It will be officiated by Pastor Dave Kreider of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Reedemer Lutheran Church, 500 Pearl Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
