Joan Phyllis (Rowe) Stone, 69, of Thurmont, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of 45 years to the late Charles William Stone Sr. Born on January 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Henry Harrison and Ollie Lillian (Shifflet) Rowe. Joan was a school bus driver for 36 years with Frederick County Public Schools and enjoyed playing bingo with many of her fellow bus drivers. Joan is survived by her three sons, Charles William Stone Jr. and wife Brenda of Frederick, Carl William Stone and wife Stacie of South Carolina, and Carlas William Stone and wife Heather of Thurmont; her brothers and sisters, Henry Rowe (Betty) of FL, Joseph Rowe (Virginia) of Thurmont, John Rowe (Wilma) of Adamstown, Robert Rowe (Glenda) of Frederick, Katherine Derita (the late Nick Derita) of Westminster, Mae Hausler (Wayne) of WV, Shirley Cole (William) of Thurmont, Nancy Flohr (Clifford) of PA, and Betty Rowe of Thurmont. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Charles William Stone III (Carol), Christopher William Stone, Miriah Nicole Stone and Eric Allan Stone; and two great grandchildren, Sarah Stone and Logan Stone. The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St, Frederick, MD. Friends will also be received from 10-11am on Friday, July 31st at the funeral home, the service will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
