Thomas Delano Younkins

March 30, 1933 — August 5, 2015

Mr. Thomas Delano Younkins, 82, of Mount Pleasant died on Wednesday, August 5 at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley Ann Windsor Younkins. Born on March 30, 1933, he was the son of the late John Austin Younkins and Dorothy Arnold Younkins. Mr. Younkins was a 1951 graduate of Frederick High School. He was a Signal Inspector, working at CSX Railroad until his retirement in April, 1993. Thomas enjoyed going to auctions, flea markets, working on tractors and camping on Assateague Island. Growing up on a farm, he enjoyed farming his own land upon his retirement. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by sons Larry Younkins and his wife Rebecca Wingate, Curt Younkins and wife Peggy as well as 4 grandchildren: Julia Margaret Younkins, Craig Thomas Younkins, Karen Lynn Younkins and Allison Anne Poore and her husband Scott Paul Poore. He also leaves behind a sister, Jo Anne Roosa. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 10 at 2:00 PM at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702. Interment will be private at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
