Mr. Charles Robert (Bob) Fawley, age 93 of Frederick passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of 67 years of Mary Elizabeth Dickensheets Covell Fawley who he married on August 14, 1944 and passed away on March 6, 2011. She was his best friend. Born on November 8, 1921 he was the son of the late Owen Homer and Nannie Bertha Woodward Fawley. He was a very loving father and took great care of Libby. Bob was a WWII veteran having proudly served his country with HQ Battery, 104th Field Artillery Battalion in Wakamatsu, Japan. He was inducted on October 25, 1944 and Honorably discharged on January 11, 1946. Upon discharge he was employed by Frederick Iron and Steel for most of his working life and also had worked for Audie Trout as a farm hand, having grown up on a farm. He also worked for Sealtest Dairies and State Roads for a short time. He had a small engine repair business for many years as well as mowing, trimming and helping his many relatives, friends and neighbors with anything that needed to be done. He was a true Jack-of-All trades and was willing to help anyone with anything. His pleasure in life was maintaining his lawn and flowers especially for his wife Libby. He loved socializing and could strike up a conversation spontaneously with all and any persons he met on his journey through life. He loved to dance and listen to music and he and Libby would join their numerous friends at the service clubs they belonged to over the years, AMvets, American Legion, Eagles, Moose and the Elks for Saturday night dances to relax after their work week. He is one of the last survivors of the many friends who enjoyed this pastime with them. Bob leaves to remember and celebrate his wonderful life his four girls, Pat (husband Larry Fagan), Shirley (husband, Tom Kroh), Sue (husband, Clarence Tobery) and Cindy Driver, his grandsons, Scott Fagan (Cindy), Jerry Keeney (Peggy), Terry Driver (Heather), Tony Driver (Jamie), his granddaughter, Kanda Betson (Mike), 6 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren as well as 2 grand dogs, Toby and Sammi Tobery. He is also survived by his sister, Annabelle Hanshew and several nieces and nephews and one stepson, Gene Covell. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Fawley, Lillian F. Graham and Mamie Elizabeth F. Smith and brothers, Jack R. Fawley, Owen L. Fawley and Jimmie Fawley, son-in-law Randy Driver, granddaughter April Dehn and grandsons Patrick Ryan Fagan and Paul A. Keeney, III. Bob was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 62 years and the family would like to thank Reverend Harry C. Cole for his love and caring of both Bob and Libby as they journeyed home. We would also like to thank Hospice of Frederick County and the numerous friends and kind neighbors who kept watch over Bob and Lib for many years. Thank you all for your visits and concerns as well as prayers. He cherished you all and you helped him get through the pain and loss of his beloved wife. Please know that he is at peace now as he joins Libby once again. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10 AM. Rev. Harry C. Cole will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Fagan, Scott Fagan, Wayne Hanshew, Jerry Keeney, Clarence Tobery, and great-grandson Ryan Betson.
