Mrs. R. Kathryn Crone Staley of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Tranquility Assisted Living Home. She was born on September 28, 1926 in Middletown, Frederick County. She was the daughter of the late Maude Crone and Ralph M. Crone, Sr. of Middletown, the sister of the late Ralph M. Crone Jr. of Myersville, and the wife of the late Paul "Dick" R. Staley of Frederick. Mrs. Staley was a retired civilian from the United States Federal Government where she worked for 42 years as a Secretary at the U.S. Pentagon and Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mrs. Staley enjoyed traveling and cruising with her late husband. She also enjoyed canning, cooking for her family and reading the newspaper. She is survived by one daughter, Linda P. Small of Charles Town, WV, two grandson's, Steven M. Small and fiancé, Kelly Nye of Hagerstown, Dennis A. Small and wife Kara of Emmitsburg; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Small of Frederick, Mark Small of Jefferson, Amanda Small of Walkersville and Joshua Small of Emmitsburg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and her husband, Ann and Ai B. Smith of Ijamsville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9pm on Wednesday, August 26 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, where funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 27th. Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 Byte Dr., Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702.
