Mr. William Henry Norwood, Sr., 87, of Frederick, died Saturday, October 4, 2015, at Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Lois Jean (Davis) Norwood, who preceded him in death in 2001. Born May 17, 1928, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Lillie (Bere) Norwood. Mr. Norwood graduated from Frederick High School in 1946 and then worked and retired from the Maryland Transportation Co. He was a life member of both the BPOE Elks and the Independent Hose Co. For over 50 years, he was an usher at the Evangelical Lutheran Church. William is survived by his daughter, Pam Wachter and husband Reed, daughter-in-law, Frances Norwood, granddaughter, Christine Babbitt and husband Fred, great-grandson, Connor Babbitt, sister, Patricia Cregger, sister-in-laws, Evelyn Davis and Mary Alice Marks, nieces, Sandra Gangawere and husband Jim and Cheri Rhoderick and husband Ike and nephews, Greg Marks and wife Sue, William Cregger Jr. and Larry Cregger and wife Bonnie. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Norwood, Jr. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm, on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Friday, October 9, 2015, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home.
