Gerard Vincent D'Amore, Jr

Gerard Vincent D'Amore, Jr, 91, of Rockville, MD, died on Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 at Somerford Place, Frederick, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Margueriete Marilyn (Cleary) D'Amore, they married July 11, 1948. Born in Boston, Mass, on December 9, 1923, a son of the late Mary Leone (Grady) and Gerard Vincent D'Amore, Sr. Mr. D'Amore received his early education at the New York Military Academy, and then attended Dartmouth College, until his enlisted in the United States Army. He served with Patton's Third Army Forces and was in the second wave of the Normandy landing. He continued his active duty service until the end of World War II and was transferred as a Captain into the Army Reserves, where he served until 1965. After the war, he returned to Dartmouth and finished his degree, before entering Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy - Tufts University, Boston, and even later the American University, where he also received advanced degrees. He had many years of faithful and commendable service working in the Intelligence field for the Federal Government and after retirement found much enjoyment in providing Therapy Counseling. He was a published author and spent many years enjoying his passion for art and was an accomplished painter. Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Gerard V. D'Amore and Katharina; Donna Marie Rimar and Joe; Kristin D'Amore Lolmaugh and Bryan; Daniel Mark D'Amore and Kirsten Stone; Susan D'Amore Murphy and Don, David Michael D'Amore and Paula; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Services and interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Virginia.
