Mr. Edwin Scott Storks, 92, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Betty Jane Poffenberger Storks. They were married on January 14, 1961. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 17, 1923, he was the son of the late Edwin Scott, Sr., and Adaleigh Louise Hurd Storks. He was the last of his immediate family. Ed was a veteran of WW II having served from 1943 to 1946 in the United States Army Air Corp. He retired after 30 years as a purchasing agent for the Department of Defense at Fort Detrick. Ed loved to play golf and cards. He enjoyed watching baseball especially the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies and also the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2000 they moved to Myrtle Beach and joined the King of Glory Lutheran Church. They moved back to Frederick, in 2013 to be closer to family and rejoined the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick. He was a life member of the Frederick Elks Lodge # 684 and a former member of the Francis Scott Key Lions Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Edwin S. Storks III and Joyce of, N. Myrtle Beach, SC, David E. Bartlett and Randy E. Bartlett and Dorinda, all of Frederick, grandchildren, Lisa Hildebrand and Gary, Jeffery Storks and Michele, Jennifer Young and Brian, Jonathan Bartlett and Kirsten, Danielle and Lauren Bartlett. Great grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, Josie, Grant, Christopher and his special baby girl Ainsley. He will be fondly remembered by his poker buddies, the cousins lunch bunch and special friends, Carroll and Mary Ann Huffer, Phyllis and John Wills, and Shirley and Jack Hyssong. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, November 6, 2015, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street. Dr. Michael O'Donnell, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
