Barbara Legore Olson

Mrs. Barbara LeGore Olson, 81, of Frederick, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roger E. Olson, who preceded her in death in 2011. Born January 7, 1934 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Emma (Rankin) LeGore. Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Frederick High School. After graduation, she attended Hollins College in VA then transferred to Hood College where she graduated in 1956 with a B.S. Degree. Barbara worked for many years as a social worker for Frederick County Dept. of Social Services. She then became a wife and a mother. After her children began attending school, Barbara worked as a substitute teacher. Her last years as a substitute, Barbara served as the permanent substitute at Frederick High School. Barbara is survived by her son, Eric Olson and wife Dawn, grandchildren, Jacob Olson, Daniel Olson, Maegan Mullins and husband Jeremy, Britton Olson and Ben Olson, 3 great-grandchildren, step-son, Kenton Olson, sister-in-law, Carol LeGore, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Chris Olson, step-son, David Olson and brother, Bill LeGore. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm, on Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Robert Driver-Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's name to the Homewood Foundation, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD 21795.
