Ruby Eileen Plunkard Shaff, age 97 of Salisbury, MD formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2015 with her loving daugher Connie Jean at her side at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. Born on August 28, 1918 in Urbana, MD, Ruby was the daughter of the late Guy Plunkard and Emma Matilia Leather. She was employedas a personal assistant to the Bakers, and the Hosiery Factory in Frederick until she married James V. Shaff, Jr., March 8, 1941. Ruby was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist and St. Lukes Feagaville Lutheran Church where she most recently attended. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, travel, singing, dancing and telling stories of her youth as well as Feagaville Food and Friends community church luncheons In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, JamesV. Shaff, Jr. her siblings, Lewis Plunkard, Herbert Plunkard, Roy Plunkard, John Plunkard, Harry Plunkard, Jim Plunkard, Carrie Brandenburg, Margaret Gardiner. Ruby is survived by her 2 children; James V. Shaff III of Frederick, and Connie Jean Shaff and her companion Wallace Bennett of Pittsville, Md.; a sister, Ethel Rice of Ijamsville and brother Donald Plunkard of Frederick; and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was a loving, nurturing mother and her caring ways will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home, Rev. Kenneth Gill officiating.
