James H. Buckley, husband of the late Catherine E. Buckley, son of the late Joseph Isaiah and Margaret Moran Buckley, brother of the late Thelma Williams, Joseph E Buckley and Teresa Sempek father of Dennis (Kathy), Mark, Stephen (Betsy), and Timothy, 4 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, numerous great grand children, uncle of Robert (Doris) Sempek and Richard Buckley Mary (Dave) Gillen, Linda Walsh, Charles ( Meg) Kivlin, and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Washington D.C at home and raised in Anacostia. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War 2 in the Pacific from February 1943 to February 1946 attaining the rating of Pharmacist Mate First Class. In 1947, he reenlisted in the Naval Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1951.
He worked for Washington Gas Light Company for 35 years before retiring in April 1985. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled Veterans Association.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls scholarship fund 1000 West Lycoming Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 28 from 10 to 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered immediately following, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Germantown.
