Patricia Ann Vento

November 21, 1961 — November 26, 2015

Patricia "Patty" Ann Vento, 54, of Frederick,  beloved daughter of Arthur and Julia Vento, also of Frederick, passed away after a sudden and brief illness on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.   In addition to her parents, Patty is survived by many family members:  sister Dolores Fuhrman and her children Holly Fuhrman and Kelly and husband Andrew Kearns; sister Mary and husband Dwayne Singleton and their children, Colin, Ben, Francesca, and Maria and husband Brandon Royce; sister Johann Vento and husband Michael Linderman and their children Mira and Sam; and her only brother, Arthur, aka "Artie".  Patty is also survived by her great niec, Airamy Royce and her great nephews, Baidryn and Leo Royce and by her uncle John Colizza and his wife Anita and many cousins.  Patty was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents,  several aunts and uncles, special uncle William Vento and his wife Bonnie, her brother-in-law, Jack Fuhrman, and her very special aunt, Dolores Colizza.

Patty graduated from Rock Creek School in Frederick, Maryland in 1983 and has actively worked in the community since her graduation.  Places of employment for Patty include Jeanne Bussard Center, Homewood Retirement Center, and most recently, the Marriott Residence Inn in Frederick and Community Living, Inc.  She was known as a strong advocate, having addressed the state legislature in Annapolis several times on the importance of educational inclusion and rights for the disabled.  She was active for many years with the ARC of Frederick County and through their self-advocacy group, "Working Together", she inspired many in her community.  Patty was very much loved and will be missed by many friends and advocates, especially Dawn Ann Bambrick and Alina Oliva.

Patty had many and varied interests, including dancing at Cheryl O'Hara Dance Elite, going to karaoke with her friends, attending Friday Night Recreation, and, most recently, learning to knit.  And Patty often competed in track and field during Special Olympics, urging herself on with her favorite saying, "Feet, don't fail me now!"  But most of all, Patty enjoyed spending time with her family, who loved her very much.

Patty's family is very grateful for the wonderful care she received everyday from her Med Source house staff and for the excellent and compassionate care she received at the end of her life from the ER and ICU doctors and nurses at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  And Patty's family is very proud to announce that she was an organ donor.

Friends may visit Keeney Basford Funeral Home in Frederick on Monday, November 30, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 1, at St. John The Evangelist Church in Frederick at 11:00 am, with Fr. Steven Gosnell as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the Vento family requests memorial donations to Med Source Community Services, Inc., the ARC of Frederick County, and St. John The Evangelist Church.
