Harriet Lula Perkins

October 17, 1938 — December 9, 2015

Mrs. Harriet Lula Perkins, age 77 of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Vindobona Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John A. Perkins who died on August 19, 1990. Born on October 17, 1938 in Frederick she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Helen Witmer.

Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Christian Holiness Church of Gapland, MD, recently known as the Gapland Christian Church. She served the church as a Sunday school primary class teacher for 12 years. She loved working with children. She was also in the Homemakers class and helped with dinners, craft bazaars and baked sales. In her free time she enjoyed making crafts, bowling, crocheting, reading the bible, trivia, cooking, baking, and going out to dinner with her family members. She worked for the Frederick Tailoring Company and the Frederick County Public Schools for roughly 15 years.

Mrs. Perkins was the mother of Keith D. Perkins of Chambersburg, PA and Karen S. Perkins of Frederick and the grandmother of Chris R. Perkins; the sister of Betty J. Pheobus, Judith Gilbert of Weston, Nancy Hargett, (the late) Roxanne Caller, (the late) Harry L. Witmer (the late) Joyce J. Shanholtzer, (the late) James D. Witmer and Johnny Witmer. She is additionally survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and will be missed by her dog Daisy.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 1-2 p.m. at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will begin in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 2 p.m. The interment will be private.
