Mr. Norman Lee Ahalt, Jr. was taken from this life way too soon on December 12, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 23, 1954 in Frederick, Maryland, the son of Norman Lee Ahalt, Sr. and Dorothy (Havenner) Ahalt of Frederick. Norman is survived by his children Kimberly Baker and husband Raymond of Adamstown, Robert Ahalt and wife Nancy of Cumberland, Lindsay Champion and husband Kevin of Chelsea, Michigan, Amy Pickett-Hurst and husband Wayne of Frederick, and Erica Carter and husband Sonny of Hagerstown, and grandchildren Robert Ahalt, Jr., Shane and Autumn Hurst, Jaden Onley, Ellie Baker, and Hollan, Joel, and Braelynn Carter, and two great-grandchildren Colton and Kayleigh Ahalt. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Ahalt (Susan), sisters Sandra Titus, Judy Cody (Ken), and life sisters Barbara Parsley (Thomas) of Myersville and Linda Dystra of Florida. He will be fondly remembered by companion Elaine Bridge and friend Jeffrey Booth, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Norman was a 1973 graduate of Poolesville High, operated White's Ferry for many years, and retired from Montgomery County School Board. After his retirement he was a tractor trailer driver for Gerald Taylor in Hagerstown. Norman's passions were building furniture, raising cattle, history, the C&O Canal, and the construction of his home. He truly enjoyed his Friday nights going to singles dances and socializing with his many friends. He also really enjoyed going on many cruises with Elaine Bridge. He was known for his great sense of humor and love for his family.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m., at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11 am. The interment will be private.
