Daniel Carter Miller, Sr.

Daniel Carter Miller, Sr., 82, of Adamstown, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015, at the Genesis Health Care at Ballenger Creek Center. He was the loving husband of 47 years to the late Shirley Wilt Butler Miller. Born on May 23, 1933 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William E. and Mabel Pearl Price Miller.

Mr. Miller worked for Safeway as a meat manager for 35 years. After retirement from Safeway, he worked for Shoppers Food Warehouse and W. W. Poultry. He was a member of Doubs/Epworth United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising beef cattle and working in his vegetable garden. He liked to watch football and was a fan of the Washington Redskins.

Surviving him are his sons, Daniel C. Miller, Jr., Donald Miller and wife Sherri, Darrell Miller and Dwayne Miller; sister, Marguerite Shields; grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Ben Miller, Emily Miller and Tyler Danielle Miller; great grandson, Evan Miller; step sons, Ronald Butler and wife Deborah, Keith Butler and wife Janis and step daughter, Kimberly Butler; step grandchildren, Gene Butler and fiancee' Amy Klinger, Randy Butler, Wade Butler and wife Tara and Sabrina Kolb and husband Donald; step great- grandchildren, Kendra, Kari, Jean Marie and David Butler; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Miller, Pat Miller, Madelyn Miller, Ruby Eagle and fiance' David, Patricia Grimes and friend Richard Blickenstaff; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Miller; brothers, Stuart Lee Miller, James Robert Miller, William (June) Miller, Jr., Guy Holland Miller, Lewis (Sonny) Newton Miller and Thomas Glen Miller and sisters, Helen Price, Lucille O'Brien, Joyce Baker, and Katherine McNeal.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m., on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Mausoleum Chapel in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street, Frederick. Entombment will follow the service. The Rev. Paul Papp, will officiate.
