Gregory Plant

Mr. Gregory Plant, 87, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Somerford Place Assisted Living Facility in Frederick, Maryland. He was the husband of the late Andree’ Plant.

Born on May 16, 1928 in Capetown, South Africa, he was the son of the late Sir Arnold and Lady Edith (Render) Plant. Mr. Plant graduated from Bishops High School in South Africa, before attending Queens College Oxford University where he graduated with his Bachelors degree. He went on to attend and graduate from Centre D’Etudes Industrielles in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Plant worked as a financial officer with Alcan Aluminum Corporation before joining and later retiring from the World Bank Group where he worked for over 20 years. Mr. Plant had a passion for science, the study of Darwinism and horticulture. He was a well-traveled and educated man.

He is survived by his three children, Cynthia Plant Nedzela Shapiro and husband Martin Shapiro, Ingrid Plant Daily, and Oscar Plant and wife Gail; four grandchildren, Paul Nedzela, Imogen Plant, Katie Plant, and Benjamin P. Daily; and nephew, Julian Plant. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Plant was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Plant.
