Shirley Virginia Stine
July 30, 1923 — December 20, 2015
Born in Frederick, MD July 30, 1923, she was was the daughter of the late Anna V. Robertson. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Stine of Hagerstown, MD for 11 years. She was also the wife of the late Hubert B. Stine “Brady” of Woodsboro, MD for 34 years. Surviving are 3 children, Linda Stine-Ward (Michael) of Bowie, MD. Jack Stine (Iva) of Libertytown, MD and Richard Stine of Jefferson, MD. Three step-children, Richard B. Stine (Ann) Woodsboro, Barbara Rhodes (Bill) Boonsboro. She was the grandmother to Janet Stine (Larry) and great-grandmother to Taylor McConville both of Keedysville, MD and a host of nieces and nephews. She has a special friend Sylvia Springer.
As a child Mrs. Stine entered The Loats Orphan home at age 9 and belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught bible school and sang in their junior and senior choirs. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines Frederick, MD Chapter. Shirley graduated from Brunswick High School Class of 1942. Mrs. Stine worked at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, MD during WWII for 20 years. She also worked at Control Data for 10 years, retired, and worked 4 years at Weinchel Engineering and then to Watkins Johnson for 5 years, and retired in 1983.
Shirley spent her retirement years being a grandmother, enjoying her pets, love of flowers and birds. She also enjoyed several years in Florida and spending time on the Eastern Shore. Mrs. Stine had a very special relationship with her son in law Michael and went on numerous vacations with Michael and Linda. Mrs. Stine touched the lives of many people with her kindness and warm heart and will be dearly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by a half sister Francis Holder (Marvin) of Brunswick, MD and step-daughter Linda Crabtree of Boonsboro, MD.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 10-11AM at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Funeral Service will begin at 11AM. Interment will be at the Boonsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Frederick Humane Society, P.O. Box 3185, Frederick, MD 21705.
