Janet Ruth Basler

September 8, 1929 — December 25, 2015

Mrs. Janet Ruth Huffer Basler, 86, of Jefferson, passed away on December 25 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond K. Basler. Born on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of Roy A. Huffer and Irma Holter Huffer.

Mrs. Basler was the manager in the proofing department at F & M Bank for 35 years. Janet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown where she served in the altar guild, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Basler is survived by son Kenneth L. Basler and wife Carrie of Jefferson and daughter Donna Rae Musser and husband Edward of Hagerstown as well as grandchildren Natalie Musser, Allison Hutzell and husband Christopher, David J. Basler and Jonathan D. Basler. Janet is additionally survived by sisters Irma Howard of Braddock Heights and Catherine Stockman of Jefferson as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen L. Huffer.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 31 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main Street, Middletown. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
