Glenn Orrison

Glenn Ezra Orrison, 95, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on December 26, 2015 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy. He was the husband of 51 years to the late Martha Whitmore Orrison, whom passed away on May 13, 1993.

Born on July 16, 1920, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Harry Marlow and Oda A. (Shafer) Orrison. He was a graduate of Frederick High School and went on to serve with the 1 st Marine Division, USMC, in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Glenn’s community activities included being a past Master Columbia Lodge #58 A.F. & A.M., a past High Priest Enoch Chapter #23 R.A.M., a member of the Enoch Council #10 R. & S.M., a member of the Jacques DeMolay Commandery. Glenn also was a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, and a 32 nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Free Masonry and a member of the Ancient and Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He was a past Grand Tall Frederick Forest #132 of the tall Cedars of Lebanon, a past President of Frederick Civitan International, past Lt. Governor Area 7 of the Chesapeake District, Civitan International. Glenn was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks #684, Frederick, member of the American Legion, F.S.K. Post #11, a member of the AARP #636, Frederick and a member of Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a distributor of local and out of town newspapers through his business the Frederick News Agency.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, M. Loretta Rapp and husband Charles of Middletown; three grandchildren, Lisa R. Eng and husband Douglas, Brian C. Rapp and wife Linda, and Sharon E. Rapp Chung and husband Justin; three great-grandchildren, Evan D. Eng, Colin C. Eng, and Nicholas M. Chung; sister, Laura Virginia Fagin of New York; sister-in-law, Dorothy G. Orrison of Thurmont; his special friend and companion Jane Shoemaker; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Martha, Glenn was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester E., Charles P., Herman M., and Ralph C. Orrison and his great granddaughter, Peyton D. Rapp.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends from 10-11am the funeral service will begin at 11am on Wednesday, December 30, at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main Street, Middletown, Maryland 21769. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
