Bret Ira Officer

Mr. Bret Ira Officer, 68, of Sharpsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at his home. He was the loving husband of Dianne Giovagnoli Officer. Born in Oakland, CA on October 6, 1947 he was a son of the late Commander Wallace B. (USN Ret.) and Roberta Carney Officer.

Bret had worked for over 33 years with the U S Postal service as a rural mail carrier. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Berlin, Germany. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland with his BA degree and Mount Saint Mary's with his Masters.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his twins, Ryan and Marie Officer, at home, siblings Pamela Officer-Greco and husband James, of Mt. Airy, Mark Officer and wife Carol, of Frederick, Colleen Officer and husband Grant Holt, of St. Louis, MO and Janet Officer and husband Daniel Huebner, of Frederick, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Services and interment will be private.
