Jeannette A. McKnight, 93, of Tranquility of Fredericktowne, died peacefully in her sleep on January 13, 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., on November 23, 1922, to A. Paul Andrews and Adelia Reed Andrews, she lived much of her life in Bethesda and other Washington suburbs. She spent her career working as a secretary/receptionist and administrative assistant for various agencies of the federal government; after retirement, she lived in Chestertown before moving to Frederick. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Ellen Sandt, and her ex-husbands, Herbert F. Eckert and Charles W. McKnight. She is survived by her beloved and loving children, Dr. Michael Eckert of Rockville, Md. and Patricia (husband Mark) Joy of Frederick, Md., grandchildren Caitlyn Joy of Frederick, Md. and Lucien Joy of Towson, Md., and nephew Paul Sandt of Chestertown, Md. In addition, she is fondly remembered by dear friend and neighbor, Nora Will, also of Frederick, Md. All of us will always love her and miss her deeply.
A memorial/celebration of life will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, on Friday, January 22, at 11:00 am. Pastor Michelle Martin Beadle will officiate. Inurnment will be private.
