Lloyd Walter Shipley

Mr. Lloyd Walter Shipley, age 84 of Urbana, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Shirley Shipley. Born on May 6, 1931 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Martha Shipley. Mr. Shipley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Georgetown University. Following his education, he began working for the Library of Congress, retiring in 1990 after 31 years of service. Mr. Shipley was an active member of the Ijamsville United Methodist Church serving the church in various ways over his lifetime.Mr. Shipley is survived by his two sons Eric M. Shipley, Sr. and wife Evone of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Michael R. Shipley and wife Jamie of Urbana; the grandfather of Eric Shipley, Jr., Jackson Shipley and Emmanuelle Shipley. Friends will be received on Thursday, January 4, 2016 from 10 to 11 AM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be begin at 11 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Franklin D. Bishop will officiate. The interment will be private.
