Mrs. Thelma Louise Baker, age 97, a long time resident of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was the wife of the late Roy E. Baker, Sr. Born on October 3, 1918 in Loudoun County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Katie P. (Axline) Newton.
Mrs. Baker was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was primarily a homemaker but was also employed by the Frederick County Public Schools as a bus driver serving children with special needs. In her free time she enjoyed her flower gardens and was excellent in the kitchen cooking and baking.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer DeRose-Bargar and husband Joe, Michelle Reeves, Debra Mercer, Robert Baker, Michael Baker, Jeffrey Baker, and Elena Hyder and 10 great grand children. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Mary A. DeRose, Roy E. "Buddy" Baker, Jr. and Joseph D. Baker, a grandchild Kristi Weedon and her siblings Sara Jane, Mary Esther, Charlotte, Margaret, Kathleen, Harry and John.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 10 to 11 AM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will begin in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 11 AM. The interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
