Mr. Blaine Louis Blank, 74, of Union Bridge, passed away on Thursday, March 3 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife, Anna Oddetta Blank, whom he married on November 22, 1968, by his side. Born on December 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Ezra Blank, Sr. and Evelyn Cole Blank.
Mr. Blank retired in 1999, having spent years as a carpenter at Fort Detrick. He was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion, Post 282. He was also a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Mount Airy. Blaine enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Abigail Bolewski and Carrie Lynn Schoonover; grandchildren James Petticord, Jr., Clifford Peddicord, Dillon Petticord, Matthew Schoonover, Alyssa Bolewski, Amber Oliver and Jaden Blank as well as great-grandchildren James Petticord, III, Madison Petticord, Mallory Petticord and Caleb Petticord. Mr. Blank is also survived by siblings Thomas Blank, James Blank, Gladys Wilkinson and Mary Teague as well as sisters-in-law Phoebe Skelton, Lula Jones, Mary Goodman and Dorothy Blank. Blaine is preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Harmon, brothers Ezra Blank, Jr., Ruben Blank, Donald Blank, Sr. sisters-in-law
Leota Wacks, Vesta Allen, Martha Wallace, Ruby Baxter and Velma Fields as well as
brother-in-law, Robert Bruner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 7, from 5 to 8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Parris and Milton Lambertson officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be James Petticord, Jr., Clifford Peddicord, Dillon Peddicord, Matthew Schoonover, Paul Musser, Jr., and Thomas Parris. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
