Donald Eugene Fletcher, Sr.

Mr. Donald Eugene Fletcher, Sr. age 78, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at home. He was the husband for 52 years of Joan K. Fletcher. Born on October 2, 1937 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Charles William & Blanche Gorden Fletcher.

Mr. Fletcher was a graduate of Brunswick High School in the class of 1956. Following his high school graduation he served in the United States Air Force. He retired from his work at the DC Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1997. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Fletcher was the devoted father of Donald Eugene Fletcher, Jr. and wife Cary of Frederick; the grandfather of Shawn Brothers and fiancee Jessica Nemethvargo, Christopher Fletcher and fiancee Karla Rodriiguez, Nicholas Fletcher and Financee Crystel Toler and Hunter Fletcher, all of Frederick and the great-grandfather of Zaiden Brothers. Mr. Fletcher is also survived by his brother David Fletcher of Jefferson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2pm at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Knoxville, MD 21758. The interment will follow in the adjacent cemetery.
