Gloria M. Selby

Mrs. Gloria M. Selby, 82, of Frederick, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Carroll E. "Gene" Selby.

Born December 15, 1933, in Ijamsville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Arbelia B. (Johnson) McDonough.

Gloria graduated from the Frederick High School Class of 1952 and looked forward to time with the Lunch Bunch and the Senior Exercise Class at the William R. Talley Recreational Center. She retired from the Frederick Couty Board of Education after over 20 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed painting, cooking, gardening and spending time with friends at their beach house. Most importantly, Gloria loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by sons, Douglas Selby and fiancee Kimberly Hart and Gregory Selby and wife Elizabeth, grandchildren, William Selby, Taylor Weisgerber and husband John, Jessica Selby and Margaret Selby, numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas McDonough, Ellis McDonough and Louis "Jack" McDonough and grandson, Spenser Selby.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Rev. Harry C. Cole will officiate. Interment will be private.
