Carolyn Mcgolerick

October 8, 1924 — April 13, 2016

Carolyn Daniel McGolerick, 91, of Frederick, died Wednesday, April 13 at Golden Living Center after a lengthy period of declining health and illness. Born October 8, 1924, she was the daughter of Rev. James P. Daniel and Carrie Bickel Daniel of Brunswick. She was the wife of Kenneth B. McGolerick of 43 years.

After graduating from Brunswick High School, she attended Hood College for two years. In 1943, she went to work for the Department of the Navy at the Pentagon where she remained for four years. Returning to Frederick, she worked at the technical library at Fort Detrick for twenty years. She then continued her education and graduated from McDaniel College in 1971. For the next four years she was librarian at Emmitsburg and St. John's Schools.

A long time member of the First Baptist Church in Frederick where she was a member of the homemaker's class, a choir member and served as librarian at the church for over thirty years. She was also an active member of the Frederick Women's Civic Club and served as historian a number of years.

After her husband retired from his teaching position in Frederick County, the couple enjoyed traveling and visited all fifty states and a number of European Countries. Both were music lovers and enjoyed attending concerts and opera at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and in several neighboring cities.

Surviving, besides her husband, Kenneth, is a sister-in-law Lavinia H. McGolerick, a great niece and nephew Dana and Steve Shultz of Keymar and two great-great nieces, Amanda and Helen Shultz.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home, Rev. Burnis Barrett officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Monrovia. The family is offering a luncheon at Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, immediately following the committal service.

Mrs. McGolerick's family requests no floral contributions, and that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 7040 Bowers Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
