Flora Elizabeth (King) Lowe, 86, of Frederick, formerly Thurmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Ray Lawrence Lowe.
Born on August 11, 1929, in Frederick, County Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur David and Dorothy Louise (Hann) King. Flora worked with her husband, farming at Springfield Dairy Farm before going to work as a cook for 19 years, at Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont. She was a longtime member of Pioneer Baptist Church. Flora enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo with other residents at Citizens Care.
Flora is survived by her two children, Arthur “Artie” Singleton Lowe and wife Beverly and Betty Louise Lowe Presley and husband Phillip; two sisters, Geraldine Coblentz and Audrey “Susie” Creek and husband Albert; sister-in-law, Ester King; three grandchildren, Margaret “Annie” Cook, Michael Presley, and Jayden Worthington; great-grandchildren, Daniel Cook, Sean Cook and Audrey Cook; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul “Bub” Edward King.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 22 nd at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Attendees are invited to meet for the procession in front of the Francis Scott Key Chapel. The Reverend James Coblentz will officiate.
