Jeffrey Allen Heffner

Mr. Jeffrey Allen Heffner, 62, of Middletown, lost his courageous battle to cancer after 7 1/2 years, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. He was the husband of Betty Heffner, celebrating 27 years of marriage on April 22.

Born December 10, 1953, in Frederick, he was the son of Edward and Patricia Heffner.

Jeff graduated from Linganore High School. He worked with custom farming for over 20 years. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, carpenter, and gardener. He and his wife enjoyed going antiquing in the years prior to his illness. Jeff enjoyed watching the Orioles and Redskins, playing Candy Crush, and keeping some of the most beautiful flowers and gardens in the Middletown area. Most importantly, he loved his family and grandchildren unconditionally.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children; Melody Ohler (Gil), Courtney Moore (Jesse Torreyson), Lisa Reynolds (Kent), Julie Paez (Will), Laurie Haines (Eric), and Matthew Baker (Katie Simon); grandchildren, Sydney and Landon Ohler, Skyler, Jacob, and Zoey Moore, Logan, Ethan, and Austin Torreyson, Michael and Anthony Hensley, Nicolas, Scarlett, and Isabella Paez, and Bryce and Brooke Haines; siblings, Kelley Dyson (Allen), Hunter Heffner (Dawn), Greg Heffner (Terry) and Pam Cline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Lynn Heffner.

The family would like to thank the University of Maryland, specifically their Cancer Center and Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Eskander and their Infusion Center, and all the many other doctors and nurses that provided care.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral will be held at 11:00AM, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Christ Reformed Church, 12 S. Church Street, Middletown, MD 21769. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Mark Wakefield will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
