Virginia Skillman Wilson

Mrs. Virginia S. "Jennie" Wilson, 89, of Rock Hall and formerly of Frederick, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, at the Whispering Pines Assisted Living Home. She was the wife of the late David C. "Laddie: Wilson, who died on April 12, 2006. Born on May 16, 1926, in Durham, NC, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruby Byrd Skillman
Mrs. Wilson was retired from the Census Bureau, where she worked as an Employee Relations Specialist, for over 25 years. She was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and she was an avid reader.
Surviving is her daughter, Ann L. Hummer, of Frederick, sister-in-law, Nancy Skillman, of Dunkirk, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a special friend, Robbie Snyder.  She was preceded in death by siblings, Pete Skillman, Maurice Skillman, Yettie Jordan and Millie Hunt. Her daughter wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to  Susan and Doug Francis and her care givers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Middletown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sarah B. Dorrance, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven  Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Circle, Middletown, MD 21769 or to the Western Maryland Alzheimer's Association Regional Office, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702.
